between 0 and 1 is a sound installation using four channels to let the listener experience the acoustic atmospheres happening inside the ice of frozen lake Baikal. The compositional form and materials are based on the artist's recordings and experiences during retreating for a Siberian winter, using self-build contact microphones to gather the various sounds the lake is producing in various times, places and weather conditions as well as analogue photography for images of fracture-structures in the ice.
Drawing from these collections the composition, both in audio and video, is creating an immersive meditative space, blending representation of the recorded materials with artistic abstraction inspired by the cyclical patterns of nature and the idea of physical and digital fracturing and reshaping.
